Valentine’s Day: I Love You Because…

I am a big believer in the power of words and truly believe that it is our words that can be our greatest gift to the people we love.

I have been writing this same letter to my husband for Valentine’s Day for many years now.

And I save each year to look back on – to see how things have changed and how they have stayed the same.

We say “I Love You” each day to each other.

But during Valentine’s Day – I like to take the time to tell him WHY I love him.

From the simplest of things of always remembering the things that I continually forget, or doing the laundry on the weekends, to being an amazing father and husband.

I Love You Because Lock

I don’t think that love should ever be taken for granted and there is value in me taking the time to think through why I love him as well as him being able to read why.

And for the last few years, I have been writing a similar version for our children as well.

And it doesn’t have to fancy or on linen paper, it just needs to be from your heart.

If you are wondering, the font I used is Callie Hand and the swirls at the bottom and for the bullets are Old Retro Labels – the letter “Z”.

How about you – want to join in?  I will be using the hashtag #Iloveyoubecause between now and Valentine’s day on Facebook, Twitter and Instagram (LPatFindingHome).

  1. Thank you! I’ve been thinking and thinking of something sweet and meaningful to give to my best friend this Valentine’s Day…he’s a simple man with the biggest heart and the absolute love of my life. It just so happens that our 10th Anniversary is on this Valentine’s Day, too. I’m totally “swipping” you sweet sentiment and making it my own. He will truly love it. & I already downloaded the font 🙂

    Have a beautiful weekend! T.-

  2. I love this! As someone a bit more “mature” (never old!) I so agree with sharing your love with everyone that is important to you. Letting people know the “why” means so much. This letter is a wonderful example! Thanks so much for sharing ~

  3. Loved this. Was inspired to do my own for my love. No linen paper here, but a paper towel dipped in coffee and rubbed on some plain copy paper did the trick. Thanks for the inspiration!

  4. This is SUCH a great idea! I think I’m going to start doing this (wish I’d started it 10 years ago but better late than never right?). 🙂 I’m also going to include it in a V-Day round up.
