Sooooo, this is a little awkward.
I haven’t posted since Christmas, and now I show up for Valentine’s Day. Umm. Well. Yeah. Like I said, awkward.
But, I am joining a fun group of bloggers, all hosted by the lovely Lory at Designthusiasm, and we are all sharing Valentine’s Day entertaining ideas. So that is good right? Make sure to click the links at the bottom to see the other ideas.
The reality with Valentine’s day for us is that it always comes in the middle of sugaring season and we have two daughters with crazy busy high school schedules. So the idea of a romantic dinner, alone as we stare into each other’s eyes has about a zero percent chance of happening.
So, I am going to try and beat it to the punch and plan a Valentine’s Day breakfast. Nothing too fancy or complicated. Of course there will be waffles and maple syrup and they will be joined with berries and hot cocoa.
And if there is hot cocoa, then there will have to be marshmallows.
I went old school with some heart doilies down the center of the island and added this sweet garland from Terrain. It is all Liberty flower patterns which I became obsessed with when we went to London a few years ago.
All in all – simple, easy and inexpensive.
And then I popped some tulips in tea containers from my favorite tea. Take the lesson I learned to heart – these tins are not water tight and you need to add a vase or mason jar in them. I used a wide mouth mason jar in each.
And now it is time to check out what other ideas our blogger friends are sharing… Thanks so much!

Hubby and I feel like it’s important to show your love every day so Valentine’s Day is just another day. I know it doesn’t sound “romantic” – but this week we celebrated our 47th year anniversary and we’re just as crazy about each other as we always were. In fact, we took our 94-year old friend out to lunch to help us celebrate — a day later than our anniversary. So you helping your hubby work when you’re needed is love in motion. Have a wonderful weekend.
